Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League and 17 points behind leaders Manchester City, and while the pressure on Villas-Boas increases with every loss or draw, the former Porto manager has suggested that his job at Stamford Bridge will be safe provided he secures a Champions League place next season.
Chelsea are currently on course for their worst season since Abramovich bought the club and while victory over Napoli in the last-16 first-leg tomorrow night may ease the pressure on Villas-Boas, Grant has warned he could be dismissed at any moment.
While much has been said and written about apparent fall out between Chelsea players and their manager following defeat to Everton, Daniel Sturridge has added his voice to those denying there is any “division” at the club.
Following Villas-Boas surprising confession that his “project” was not backed by all of his players, Sturridge said: “We are all together as one and we are not a divided unit.
“We are a family and we’ve got a good unit going here and I think maybe we will see that in the next few games.”
